The long-trusted partner of service providers, enterprises, strategic industries and governments around the world, Alcatel-Lucent is a leader in mobile, fixed, IP and Optics technologies, and a pioneer in applications and services. Alcatel-Lucent includes Bell Labs, one of the world’s foremost centers of research and innovation in communications technology.
With operations in more than 130 countries and one of the most experienced global services organizations in the industry, Alcatel-Lucent International is a local partner with global reach. The Company achieved revenues of Euro 16 billion in 2010, is incorporated in France and headquartered in Paris.
The ‘Strategic Industries’ branch of Alcatel-Lucent will bring to the SALUS project its experience and unique network expertise in designing and deploying communication systems for critical infrastructures, requiring highest availability and resiliency, for segments such as transport, energy and public safety. In the transport segment, Alcatel-Lucent implements smart systems allowing optimized operations with reduced environment impact. In the energy segment, Alcatel-Lucent provides solution to real-time accommodate electricity consumption, while preserving resources and protecting the environment. In the public safety domain, Alcatel-Lucent enables first responders (police, fire fighters, healthcare emergency services) to fulfil their mission while optimizing their operation costs.
Main Role in the SALUS project
Alcatel-Lucent International will heavily contribute to the SALUS project with its unique experience in designing and implementing mission-critical communications networks, leveraging its expertise on LTE radio and core technologies, delivering proven services to consumers, professionals and mission critical customers.
Regarding WP2, Alcatel-Lucent International contributes to advanced use cases definition, highlighting requirements for broadband LTE infrastructure, addressing first responder priority needs. Alcatel-Lucent International will then map those use cases into precise technical requirements. For WP3, Alcatel-Lucent International will contribute to high level system architecture, migrations scenarios and will highlight the role of commercial infrastructures. On WP4, Alcatel-Lucent International will provide business models and business cases, including private models and/or mixed private and commercial approach, thanks to its unique ‘multi-service networks’ expertise. Regarding WP6, Alcatel-Lucent International will expose pragmatic approach for supporting PMR services over LTE, ensuring smooth services migration. The specific expertise on QoS and resiliency strategies will benefit BB PMR networks design, leading towards most robust implementations. Alcatel-Lucent International will contribute to the gap analysis work package, with respect to LTE standard for supporting PMR over LTE services. For the activities planned in WP7, Alcatel-Lucent International will support the integration, implementation and validation process, and will provide an Alcatel-Lucent International LTE infrastructure (radio heads and core).
Alcatel-Lucent is member of the TETRA Association and Public Safety Communications Europe forum. Among other events, Alcatel-Lucent participates in TETRA World Congress (TWC) industry events, and proposes to disseminate the SALUS results there.
